“Tlie only way to secure to the Union tlio support in tlie House .necessary to carry out its views,” says a circular issued by the executive of New Zealand Farmer-’ .Union, “is for all members to pull together on this important point. Private reasons for supporting a candidate should bo set aside. Once decision is made our members must bo loyal to the Union, and act for the seed of the country, giving chosen candidate all the support in their power. We are indifferent as to whether the candidate is a supporter of the Government or Opposition, or an Independent; but to bo indifferent as to whether candidate supports the Union and answers questions put to him hy the Union in the affirmative would largely nullify the great work already done. We have a great belief in our own principles, and we believe that in doing our utmost to secure members who recognise these as right-, we are only acting in the best interests of the county and the workers.” It is reported that a new departure will be taken this season in collecting agricultural statistics, the intention being to obtain information required through the medium of the Post Office, forms for returns being sent to each settler to, fill in.
