NEW ZEALAND COURSING ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL MEETING. Tho annual meeting of delegates of clubs affiliated io the New Zealand Coursing Association will he held at the Empire Hotel, Christchurch, on Nov. 6th. Tho report to bo presented by the bon. secretary is as follows: —In presenting tho Second Annual Report and Balanco Sheet of the New Zealand Coursing Association, I must congratulate tho Affiliated clubs on tho prosperous ami successful Henson just past. Since presenting tilo last report four clubs have been inaugurated and nffiiliated witli the Association, viz.: Black’s Plumpton C.C., Canterbury C.C., Manawatu C.C., and West Coast C.C. Two other clubs have been formed and wilt no doubt bo found in active operation next season, viz., Timaru and Martinborough. The Auckland C.C. have not held any coursing meetings during tho season past, but have now an enclosure stocked, and will start operation early next season. The Association have dealt with many matters during the past year affecting disputes between owners and clubs, all of which have been amicably settled. It is to be regretted that occasions' have again arisen to necessitate owners being fined for impugning tho Judge, two cases having been dealt with, the offenders being fined £5 each. The Rule of tho Association in allotin: the season’s fixtures has worked very well. In no instance have two meetings clashed. The work of Registration has gone steadily on and tho number of litters registered show a marked increase. Sixty-one Litters have been registered during the past year as against 41 in 1961. Tho number of whelps in the Litters total 371. 211 names have been allotted and £36 has been received in Registration foes. The 'Waterloo Cup was again run by the Dunedin C.C., but it lias been thought tiiat Ihe event should bo made a National one, and endeavours are to lie made by the Association to run a Waterloo Cup under its auspices during the 1 DOG season, when it in hoped that the New Zealand Waterloo Cup will once more be brought into prominence. It has been specially noticeable during tho past season for tho number of valuable trophies g ven by patrons of the sport to the different clubs for competition, and tho thanks and good wishes of the Asociauon are specially due to the many gentlemen who have donated trophies and added money that Certainly has given the sport a decided impetus. It is to be regretted that Hon. Secs, of Affiliated Clubs have neglected to inform the Association of tho amount paid away in stakes by their clubs during the season, and I am unable, therefore, to state Ihe total stake money disbursed in New Zealand this season. Tho only returns I have are as follows:—Oamaru C.C. held three meetings and paid away .£328; Wellington C.C. held four meetings and paid £271); Manawatu C.C held throe meetings and paid £114; Canterbury C.C. held two. meetings and paid £35. An important matter has been discussed by tho Association during the year on tho initiative of the Canterbury C.C., and the following was added to the Registration Rule; That in registering litters of whelps the endorsement of the owner of the siro he necessary before the registration bo granted. Also that some person approved by tho Association, preferably the Secretary cf a Coursing Club in the district, seo the litter before registration. The balance sheet, shows that the re-, ceipts from all sources amounted to £55 15s 3d. being made up of registrations, £36, subscriptions from affiliated clubs. £lB 18s, and sales of rules and registers, 17s 3d. The disbursmenta amounted to £27 0s 7d, leaving a credit balanco of £2B 14s Bd. The club has assets valued at £75 13s Id, and no liabilities. The following notices of motion will coma up for consideration: By H. W. Davies; That where n greyhound is leased for racing purposes, such lease must be for the remaining part cf, a season. All leases must he registered with the N.Z.C.A. at the cost of 2s 6d at least ono month before the leasee can bo deemed the bona fide owner for the purposes of guarding, etc. By the Manawatu C.C.: To amend Rule Number 27 of the N.Z.C.A., to read as follows;—When two greyhounds remam in for tho deciding course, the stakes shall ho considered divided if they belong to the same owner or partners; but if one of the two which do not belong to the same owner or partners be drawn from lameness or from any cause clearly affecting’ his chance of winning, the other ’may be declared the winner, the facts of the case being clearly proved to the satisfaction oi the Stewards; and in this case the owners may agree to divide. The same rule shall apply when more than two dogs remain in at the end of a stake which is not run out, and in case of a division between three or more dogs of which'two or more belong to the same owner, three latter shall be held to take equal shares of the total amount received by their owner in the division. By the Oamaru C.C.: 1. That the decision come to by the N.Z.C.A. last season that no dates for coursing meetings he allotted before December Ist be rescinded. 2. That the following clause he added to rule 22; —Onlv clubs holding coursing meetings be allowed to take part iu committee meetings. By the Dunedin C.C.: That no stakes he allowed to be run under the auspices of the N.Z.C.A. when tho full nomination money he under Two Pounds (£2). Consideration of report of Special Committee re appointing judge for tho colony and general.
