CHARGE AGAINST W. P. CRICK. POLICE COURT PROCEEDINGS. (■Received October 31, 11.11 p.m.) SYDNEY, October 31. At tho Water Police Court to-day, hearing was resumed of the charge against W. P. Crick, M.L.A., cx-Mm-istcr for Lands, of having while Minister accepted payment of £250 in conncctioji with leases of Crown lands, Peter Clone was tho first witness, and defendant, conducting his own case, severely cross-examined him in reference to hie evidence before the Lands Commission, with a view to showing that Close was awr.ro Parliament would pare; a hill to indemnify him before he agreed to answer certain questions. Tho Magistrate several times admonished Crick for his manner of conducting the cross-examination. Crick declared that he would conduct it in his own way, and that ho meant, to have the Commission before the Court. . Nothing fresh was elicited, and rho hearing was adjourned till Thursday. W. N. W. N. Willis, who was arrested in South Africa owing to developments during the Land Commission inquiry, has been remanded from Durban to Sydney on a charge of false 'pretences.
