LONDON COUNTY COUNCIL.
A BIG DEBT. IMMENSE ANNUAL EXPENDITURE STATEMENT BY THE CHAIRMAN. LONDON, October 25. In his annual statement Mr E. A. Cornwall, chairman of tho London County Council, showed that the debt of the County Council amounted to £41,620,266, including £11,500,000 taken over from tho late School Board, also £5,500,000 in respect of remunerative purposes not involving a burden on tho rates. The expenditure in London for the year just concluded is £19,250,000 — fourfold that of Denmark. THE COUNCIL’S CHAIRMAN. LONDON, October 25. As a result of the opening of the Kingsway. the new thoroughfare from tho Strand to Holborn, and the visit of the Parisian municipal delegates, Mr E. A. Cornwall, chairman of tho London County Council, has been knighted.
