PIIESS ASSOCIATION". AUCKLAND October 24. A. woman named Driscoll met with a serious accident tb-niclit. She accidentally sot her clothes a fight with a candle. She was badly burned and her condition is'critical. A settler named Robert Bell, of Pawene, met with a serious accident last week whilo engaged in hauling logs to Takeke river with a bullock team. One of the logs got across the track, and Bell went to move it with a jack. When the bullocks started off again, a rotten tree was lorn down and fell upon the unfortunate man. He was nicked up unconscious, and taken-to Eawenb Hospital. He never recovered consciousness, death occurring two days Inter. As a medical certificate was given to the effect that death was duo to pneumonia no inquest was held. DUNEDIN, October 24. At an inquest at Beaumont on Alexander McGregor, drowned off the Golden river dredge, nt Roxburgh Gorge) the jury found death was due to a fall from the dredge caused by a defective handrail.
