Company have received cable advice that the steamer Karninea, which sailed from AVelliugton on July Olh for London, arrived at her destination last Saturday morning. . , The Union Company s Duncdm-Anck-land trader Talune i* to be withdrawn for an overhaul ou arrival at Dunedin on September 21st. The Moura will take tip the Tahinc’s nm to Auckland and back. The little steam launch Kestrel, formerly owned by the Queensland Government, and recently purchased in Auckland by Mr J. J/K. Powell for towing pontoons in connection with the Hutt road works, arrived yesterday from Auckland. The little steamer is in charge of Captain Dixon, and Mr H. McGregor is engineer. The Shaw. Savill and. Albion steamer Aotea. now loading at the Bluff for London. i* to proceed from the Bluff to Wellington. where she is due about Monday next. She will remain here till departing for London, on September Cth. The Warrirnoo is to be laid up for an overhaul on arrival at Dunedin on next Tuesday, and she will be relieved by the Mnraroa to sail from Dunedin on September 7th. On her return to Dunedin on September 23rd, the Mararoa will sail for Sydney on the 26th in place ;of the Manuka. The latter vessel is to leave Sydney on Wednesday, September 13th, for Auckland, in place of the Monua, which vessel, on arrival at Sydney on September Bth, is to be placed in the Vancouver service. The Manuka, on reaching Dunedin Jn September 24th, is to bd laid rip for overhaul. The Union Company's steamer Wainui, from Wellington via ports, arrived at Grey mouth at 10 a.m. yesterday. She soiled on the return trip at 9 o’clock last night, and is to leave Nelson at 7.30 a.m. to-morrow for Wellington, where she Is due about 5.30 o’clock to-morrow evening.
Ihe Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Mamari, which sailed from Port Chalmers at noon yesterday for Lyttelton, will proceed thence to the Blun, from which port she is to sail for Port Pirie. The Mamari will also load at Sydney and Melbourne, and will proceed Homewards, via Suez.
MONOWAI, FROM SYDNEY. The Union Company's steamer Monowai, which sailed from Sydney at 2 p.m. on_ Saturday for Wellington direct, is bringing a total of 162 passengers for New Zealand, of whom 75 saloon and 52 steerage are for Wellington. The vessel has 363 tons of cargo to discharge at Wellington. whore she is due about 10 a.m. to-morrow. The Monowai is to sail for Hobart and Melbourne, via Southern ports at i p.m. on Thursday.
ARRIVAL OF THE TUEAKINA. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Turakina, from London, via Capetown and Hobart, arrived in the stream at 8.10 a.m. yesterday. Pratique was granted and the vessel berthed at No. 1, south. Queen’s Wharf. The Tnrakina sailed from London on July 13th, and arrived at Plymouth on the following day. Passengers were embarked and the vessel sailed for Tenerifi'e. A moderate following wind and sea were experienced till arrival at Tenerifi'e at 5.40 a.m. on July 29th. The voyage was resumed after a brief stay. Moderate northeasterly and south-easterly trades were met with to latitude 26 degrees south. Strong north-westerly winds followed, with a rough sea to arrival at Capetown on August 4th. The vessel sailed again on the same day. Crossing the Southern Ocean strong north-westerly to southwesterly winds and hign seas were encountered. Hobart was reached at 6.40 a.m. on Wednesday. After disembarking 14 passengers and discharging 633 tons of cargo, the vessel sailol for Wellington on Thursday morning. Fine weather was experienced across the Tasman Sea; Captain F. Forbes retains command, and has with him the following officers:—Chief, Mr Vine; second, Mr Wingate; third. Mr Church; fourth. Mr Eevis: fifth, Mr Stables: chief engineer, Mr Thornhs; surgeon. Dr Beedo; steward-in-charge, Mr . Searle. The vessel has 5700 tons of cargo for New Zealand, of which 3000 tons are for discharge at Wellington.
