MATCH AGAINST KENT. WON BY AN INNINGS. LONDON, August 25. The weather was rather breezy, and the wicket showed signs of wearing, when the match Australia v. Kent was resumed to-day. There were three thousand people present. Tho Australians, who had lost eight wickets for 367 runs, continued their innings. McLeod’s stay at the wickets extended just over a couple of hours. The first county wicket fell at 20, and five were down at the end of forty minutes for 42. After the fall of the fourth wicket Kelly damaged his hand, and Newland acted as his substitute. The attendance during the afternoon was 7000. The seventh wicket fell for 74. Huish played good cricket. The innings altogether lasted under two hours. In the second essay of Kent, who followed on, Dillon, and Hearns put on 48 for tho first wicket in half an hour. Mason played a dashing innings. He hit three fourers off one over of Cotter’s, and 54 was added in thirty-five minutes while ho and Hearne were partners. The score was 154 for four wickets when stumps were drawn. SATURDAY’S PLAY. (Received August 27, 4.43 p.m.) \ LONDON, August 26. When the match was resumed to-day tho weather was threatening. The attendance was small. Hearne and A. Day carried the score to 187, when Hearne played Cotter on. He had played a good innings, including six fourers. Humphreys was the only other batsman who made anything like a stand, and tho innings closed for 252. Thus the Australians won by an innings and 35 runs. Scores:—
