LAND TRANSACTIONS.
EXPENSIVE “JOGGING” OF MEMORY. SYDNEY. August 15. A witness, giving evidence before the Land Commission, said ho paid £9OO to Peter Close, a member of a Sydney firm, to “jog the memory” of the Land Department to expedite the gazetting of leases. Another witness paid Willis £250 whether ho secured a lease or not, and offered to present a further £1250 if the lease was secured. Willis got the £I6OO.
