The Parkvale and Taratahi Dairy factories closed for tho season to-day. ■ Tho following were last ngiht elected officers of the Carterton Young Men’s Bible Class:—Loader, Mr A. Reynolds; deputy-leader. Mv T. Aplin; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. E. Stevens; general committee. Messrs King, Osborne. Andrews, Meenkon, and Reid, look-out comraittee, Messrs Lawrence, McDonald and Banks. „ , A special meeting of the Borough Council was held last night to pass the by-laws in connection with the drainage scheme. It was decided that the bylaw be adopted and come up for confirmation on Juno 15th. The ordinary monthly meeting was then hold. Tho overdraft was reported at .£2lO Us. It was resolved to observe Monday os tho holiday for the Prince of Wales’s birthday. A proposal was received and considered in committee from a firm prepared to erect a gas works, the matter was left oVet-till June 15th for consideration.
