PRESESSIONAL ADDRESSES.
. (To the Editor “ K.Z. Times.”) Sir. —When is tho farce of a presessional address to end? Tho meeting held by Messrs Duthio and Aitkcn last night proves conclusively that no public interest whatever is taken in tho'utterances of members of Parliament during ye cess. Some gentlemen use the occasion [as an opportunitv for getting their views into print, and others for the xiurpose of saying how much they have done for their constituents. Weeds speak louder than words. Tho public can easily judge, and aro not befooled by wild assertion or -unfounded insinuations. Messrs Duthio and Aitken didn't tell tho electors what thev had done, for they were not able. The electors are aware that they have voted against an increase in tho absentee tax, but beyond that they have been merely destructive, not constructive. When they introduce legislation, and convince tho House that the same is good for tho people, and such legislation becomes law, and is proved good, then let us hear about it. In the meantime, let us do away with preeessional addresses, which aro usually made up of threadbare diatribe and unconvincing threats.—! am. etc. AHTI-HUMBUG. May 31st.
