' AT VLADIVOSTOCK AND WUSUNG. THE FORMER PLACE DOOMED. JAPANESE WATCHING. (Received May 31, 9.21 p.m.) 1 LONDON, May 31. The Russian cruiser Almaz, tho hospital ship’ Orel and a torpedo boat have arrived at Vladivostock. General Linevitch telegraphs to St. Petersburg that the commander of tho Almaz reports as follows: “Wo lost the Kniaz Suvaroff, the Borodino, tho Oslabya, and the Ural in Saturday’s battle. Tho Imperator Alexander was seriously damaged at tho outset of the fight. “After the Almaz separated from the l3eet the battle was renewed in darkness. Tho result is unknown. “ A lieutenant and four sailors of tho Almaz were killed and ten wounded.” Foreign naval attaches are excluded from Vladivostock. The Vladivostock squadron started to meet Admiral Rozhdestvensky’s fleet, but did not accomplish its errand, and returned to port. ' Japanese warships are watching Vladivostock. It is considered at Berlin that Vladivostock is doomed. The auxiliary cruiser Smolensk has arrived at Wusung (the port of Shanghai). The Russian transport Korea escaped to Ushima, and has reached Wusung with, a shot-hole in her side, and with boats shot away. Six Russian transports at Wusung have consented to be interned. A small Russian converted cruiser entered Shanghai to-day.
