CARTERTON.

(From Onr Own Correspondent.) Saturday

The usual monthly meeting of the Wnirarapa South County Council held to-day, Mr W. Perry presiding. The debit'balance was reported at <£1338 17s 9d, and accounts amounting to J 2502 19s 7d were passed for payment. It was resolved that as Mr Daniell had not agreed to the County Engineer’s conditions relative to the heavy traffic by-laws, not to allow him to continue carting his timber. It was decided to effect improvements to tho Maungaraki road. _ln regard to roadmens’ wages it was : agreed to give a uniform wage of 8s per day for permanent men, the Engineer to use his discretion as regards casual labourers.
