THE YORKSHIRE MATCH, ANOTHER VICTORY FOR THE COLONIALS. MARGIN 0F~174 RUNS. (Received May 25, *9 a.m.) LONDON, May 24. Tho weather was misty when play was resumed to-day in the match Australia v. Yorkshire. The start was delayed fifteen minutes owing to the bad light. There was an attendance of about two thousand. The wicket was worn. When stumps were drawn last evening the scores were—Yorkshire, first innings, 197. Australia, first innings, 322; second innings, 59 for six wickets. Tho colonials'brought their second innings to a *close in two hours fifteen minutes. Darling accompanied Kelly to the wickets, Rhodes and Haigh bowling. Kelly, after making 7 runs, was bowled by Haigh, the ball breaking back. Seven for 71.

McLeod had a similar experience. When he had compiled 10 he had his middle stump removed by one of Haigh’s break-backs. Eight for 85. Darling, who had made 5 runs, was joined by Laver, and the century appeared after an hour and fifty minutes’ play. Nine runs later Myers went on, and in his first over bowled Darling, who took fifty-five minutes compiling 22. Nine for 109, Laver and Cotter carried the total to 127. Then Cotter was caught by Denton long-off, Laver remaining not out. Scores:—

Bowling Analysis.—Haigh, four wickets for 64 runs; Myers, three for 21 ; Rhodes, three for 29; Ringrose, nil for 3. YORKSHIRE’S SECOND INNINGS. A SMALL SCORE. LONDON, May 24. Requiring 253 to win, Jackson and Grimshaw opened the County’s second innings, Howell and Laver bowling. In tho second over Jackson’s off stump was removed by a good hall from Howell. One for 11. The third over was fatal to Grimshaw, Howell, who was breaking back splendidly, again finding the wicket. The departing Batsman made his 11 runs in three hits. Two for 14. Howlell also accounted for the third wicket, Denton retiring leg-before at 9. Three for 25.

Tunnicliff© made a couple and then fell by a catch to Howell in the slips off Laver. Four for 33.

Hirst, who had made 8 runs, with the assistance of Rhodes, added 4, and was then bowled by Howell with another break-back. Five for 43. The luncheon adjournment was then taken. After forty-five minutes’ play the board showed 60, of which Rhodes contributed 13, Haigh being nil. On resuming, the weather continued gloomy, the attendance having in the meantime increased to 5000. Haigh at 3 failed to negotiate a “shooter” from Laver. Six for 62. Rhodes had made 22 as the result of some good hits. Myers came. in only to see Rhodes caught by Noble at deep square-log off Laver. Seven for 65. Hawke was bowled by the second ball from Laver without scoring, the total showing no change. Ringrose contributed 4, and then Howell sent his middle stump spinning. Nine for 72. Hunter, the last man, scored three, when he was caught by Trumper at short-leg. Myers, who had seen four man retire xvhile he was making five, carried out his bat. Five wickets fell in thirty-five minutes after luncheon, tho bowling on a broken wicket, being splendid. The Australians thus won the match hy 174 runs.
