THE BROKEN MELODY. VAN BIENE'S 'CELLO PLAYING. Last evening: Van Bieuo again delighted hundreds of people in the Opera House by his charming mastery of the 'cello, when tho second production of “The Broken .Melody" gave the renowned musician another opportunity to display his gifts. Aa on the occasion of his first appearance before a Wellington audience his fine playing evoked loud plaudits of approval. Last evening Van Biene displayed the full measure of nis skill. As an actor ho showed histrionic ability of a marked type. “Tho Broken Melody" will bo repeated to-night. HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. “JUSTICEAT LAST." "Justice at Last," an interesting ploj and one that depends very little on exciting situations, scenic effects, ami stage accessories, was produced at )iis Majesty's Theatre by tho Tay lor-Carring ion Dramatic Company last evening bo for© a large and cnco. The plot runs in a well defined groove—right against wrong with ultimate victory lor the former, and stern justice, for the wrong-door. Nevertheless it is an interesting plot; whilst the comedy, judiciously intermix, ed, never fails to elicit hearty laughter. The Jew, Isaacs, the funny man of the piece, as played by Mr Charlie Taylor was an amusing scoundrel. Miss Ella Carrington at home in the emotional phases of the character of Kate Medland. The villian, Matthew Thornton, was convincingly played by Mr Ward Lyons. The scenic effects were most praiseworthy. "Justice at Lost" will be repeated to night. FISK JUBILEE SINGERS. To-night the Jubilee Singers will give their farewell concert in New Zealand, at the Town Hall. A special programme has been orranged for this performance, including items entirely new to Wellington audiences. The Hon R. J. Soddon will bo present. The prices of edmieeio» are on the popular scale. THE WELLINGTON PIANO COM X’ANY’S CONCERT. Tho programme for the Wellington Piano Company’s first grand popular com oerjb, to be hold in the Town Hail on Saturday, will bo found in another column. The company claims that a finer programme has never before been* offered at popular prices in Wellington.. Tho duet, tr O, Maritana," will bo given, by Miss Rosina Buckmann and Mr ffrank Graham. Other items are tho ''Bohemian Girl" overture by tho company's orchestra, with Herr Max Hoppe aa leader; and the song, “Queen of the Earth," by Mr Frank &raham. The management introduces a novelty in asking the audience to notify its desire to hear any particular piece of music norformed at tho next concert, or to request the engagement of any particular soloist, The box plans are at Holliday’s and at the company's promises in Molesworth street. Tho Premier has extended his patronage to tho concert to be given at the Town Hall on the 19th inst. under th« auspices of the Highland Rifles. The Anderson Dramatic Company left for Gisborne by the Mokoia yesterday afternoon.
