THOROUGHBRED HORSE SALE.

Messrs Abraham and Williams held their fourth annual thoroughbred horse sale at Palmerston North on Friday. The sale is yearly growing in importance, and the attendance was gratifying to vendors. The majority of tho best stables had representatives round tho ring, commissioned to pick up any thing of a likely quality. Eleven thoroughbreds were offered by the lion a. D. Ormond, the chestnut gelding Sir Pereira 10, by Sir Lancelot—Trentalto, exciting the chief interest; 56 guineas was the price paid by Mr McMauaway, of Wairarapa, for tho handsome son of Sir Lancelot. A shapely two-year-old filly by Sir Lancelot—Auray, fetched 11 guineas, and a brown three-year-old filly by The Officer—from The Shrew, went to Mr J. Green at 32 guineas. On account of Mr E. S. Abraham a particularly handsome youngster, Sandix, by San Fran —Minature, found a buyer in Mr McCorkindale. Six horses were offered on account of the estate of the late W. Eathbone. The highest priced of the lot was Stormont, a four-year-old gelding by Apremont from Atholino. the lion J. D. Ormond paying 100 guineas for him. The well-known horse Shrapnel was passed in at 250 guineas, no one being willing to touch the reserve of 350 guineas. The sales were as under:— On account of Hon J. D. Ormond. tins.
