Clement W. Andrews, of Chicago, in the course of the convention of the American Library Association of St. Louis, visited a number of St. Louis factories. Noon struck in the cardroom of a mill, and all the card-room boys- nut by their work and disappeared as if by magic. “X>o all the hoys,” said Mr Andrews, smiling, “drop their tools the instant the whistle blows?” “Oh, no, not all of them,” answered the card-room boss. “The more orderly ones have their tools put away before that time.”*
