Tho Colonial Consignment and Distributing Company, in its market report dated Loudon, December 2nd, says;—Tho short spell of hard, cold days has given place to damper and warmer weather, and tho change has produced an appreciable effect on . tho market. Supplies of beef are still very heavy, and consist mainly of second-rate qualities, which are difficult to soli. North American chilled hinds j aro. selling at widely varying prices, from 44 a d for inferior (o G|d for really choice quarters. Fores aro quoted from 2Jd, to 3Jd per lb. Argentine chilled beef has been making rather better prices at 3|d to djd per lb for hindquarters and 23d to 2Jd for fores, hut the quality _ exhibits a good deal of variation. English and Scotch sides have not found a ready sale, and prices arc somewhat weaker at 5d to GJd and GJd to 6d respectively. English, Scotch and Dutch sheep are all selling very slowly, and prices are about Id per lb down on the week, while a number aro- left unsold. Tho shipments from Holland are almost over for tho season. JOHNSONVILLE SALE. Abraham and Williams, Limited, report on their JohnsonvilLe sale yesterday as follows:—Wo had a. fair entry of bullocks,- and with tho exception of a fow light steers tho quality was prime. Beef made 10s per 1001 b. Best bullocks £7 17s 6d, others £7 7s Gd to £7 12s Cd, light steers £4 15s to £6 15s. A fair yarding of sheep of mixed quality sold as follows:—Best owes 16s lid, others 15s lOd to 16s 3d. light 13s Id, wethers 16s lid. Lambs, 12s to 12s 9d. EHESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, January 10. At tho second wool sale of tho season only 2774 bales were offered. Coarse wools aro dearer; fine wools realised no further advance. Fine crossbreds sold' at 9Jd to lOd; coarso ditto, 9d to Did; medium, BJd to 9d‘; haifbrod, lOd to 103 d; Lincoln, 93d to Did.; Shropshire, 9!ld. There is keen competition.
