FIRES IN AUSTRALIA.
OUTBREAKS IN QUEENSLAND. BRISBANE, January 10. Two largo bush fires arc raging near the* town of St. George (330 miles southwest of Brisbane). SYDNEY, January 10. Reports froin-tho country districts attiribnte the origin‘of the bush fires in some instances to phosphorus used in poisoning rabbits, Tho relief fund lias reached £4OOO. SPARKS FROM RAILWAY ENGINES (Received January 11, 0.23 a.in.) SYDNEY, January 10. In consequence* of the residents being certain that the recent bush fires at Minto were caused by a spark from a railway locomotive, a test case is likely to be instituted against tho Railway Commissioners.
