CRICKET.

WELLINGTON v. OTAGO. northern team follows on. PRESS ASSOCIATION. DUNEDIN, December 30. Tho cricket match between Wellington and Otago was continued to-day. I lain overnight and in the early morning had loft patches of water on the outfield, and play could not bo resumed till tho afternoon. Tho weather was fine, and there was a good attendance. Tho wicket was slow and the outfield dead. Wellington were all out for 98 in the first innings, of which Blacklock claimed GO not out. made by faultless cricket. Requiring 200 runs to save an innings defeat, Wellington followed on, and at tho drawing of stumps had seven wickets down for 111. The cricket throughout the afternoon was tame and uninteresting. Downes got a lot of work on the wicket and soon had the batsmen in difficulties. Stephenson had throe lives in one of Downes’s overs, but appeared for a time to have a charmed lile. Blacklook played confidently, and carried out his bat for three score runs. In their second innings the Wellington men commenced carefully, and runs came slowly. Tho first twenty-five minutes yielded only 9 runs, and the first threequarters of an hour 20, while in the next twenty minutes 7 runs were added. Mahony played a good innings.
