FOOTBALL.

NEW ZEALAND RUGBY UNION. A meeting of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union was held last night. Present—Messrs G. Dixon (in the chair), R. D. Isaacs, W. Coffey, A. Laurenson, D, D. Weir, G. Fache, N. Galbraith (lion treasurer), and A. C. Norris (lion secretary). It was decided to play the North versus South Island match at Dunedin on th© 2-tth inst., tho date suggested by the Otago Rugby Union, if satisfactory arrangements can be made. The teams are to be in the hands of the union on Saturday, 10th iust. It was decided to agree to the request of the English union that tho first match of the New Zealand tour to Great Britain nest year, bo played at Plymouth on tho 16th December. It was also resolved to point out to the English Union that on no account would tho playing tour of th© team extend over three months. ,

With reference to th© Taranaki Union's challenge for the Banfurly shield, the committee agreed to play the match on 17th September, and to notify tho Wellington Union accordingly. The Otago Union * notified that the match Otago versus Wellington on 10th inst. would bo for tho Ranfurly shield. It was decided to publish, and forward a copy to the manager of the English team, a resolution expressing tho New Zealand Union’s displeasure at tho issue by irresponsible persons of a “memorial card” in connection with the recent match Great' Britain versus New Zealand, played at Wellington.

OTAGO RUGBY REPRESENTATIVES. Tho Otago representative team now on tour reached Masterton on Monday night. To-day they will meet tho Wairarapa representatives, and after tho match the Otago men will leave for Wellington, where they will next Saturday meet tho local representative team. In the match at Masterton to-day, Wairarapa will be represented as, follows:—E. McKenzie, E. Wrigloy, J. O'Leary, L. Smart, P. Rogers, I). Logan, Gray, Warner, D. Udy, A, Cadwallader, W. Jackson, A, Johnson, J. Workman, E. Board and Spackman; emergencies, P. O'Leary (back), H. McKenzie and 11. Hurley (forwards).

DISQUALIFIED FOR LIFE. ' PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, September 6. The Canterbury Rugby Union to-day imposed a sentence of disqualification for lifo on a member of the Richmond Club, charged with having wrongfully obtained £1 from the insurance fund when he was an unfinanrial member of the club. Three similar cases were previously dealt with, INTERCOLLEGIATE MATCH. NELSON, September 6. In the intercollegiate football match, Wellington versus Nelson, tho visitors won by 11 points to three. At Miramar yesterday afternoon teams representing the Treasury and the Lands and Survey Departments mot in a football match. The result was a draw, each side scoring a try. Mr J. Laughton was referee. Afternoon tea was provided by tho lady clerks of the Laods and Survey Department. i
