SHIPMASTERS’ ASSOCIATION.
PRESENTATION TO CAPTAIN KING. At the close of the monthly meeting of tho .fiiipuKistens’ Association yesterday, Mr George Wilson, president of the association, accompanied by Captain J. T. King, late vice-president, attended by invitation of tfie committee. Mr Wilson occup.ed the chair. Ho stated that at the invitation of the executive, ho would make a presentation to Captain King on bis retirement from the office of vice-presi-dent. il’lie president referred to (he many valuable services rendered to the association by Captain King during his ton years’ membership, .the last four years 01 Which he had been a vice-president of the association. Ho the regret of members that Captain King's pr.vate business rendered it compulsory to him to relinquish office in the association. The president referred to the largely increased membership of the association, and the good practical work it was doing in the interests of its members. In banding Captain King the gold badge of the association and a letter convoying the appreciation of members of his many etiorts on their behalf he expressed the hope that Contain King would still find time to assist the committee in carrying out its policy. Captain King tendered his- hearty thanks to members and the secretary for the loyal support accorded to him during his occupancy of the chair.
