A SLAUGHTERING DIFFICULTY
PROBABLE DEADLOCK. PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, September 2. The Christchurch Meat Company has written to the Mayor stating that it disagrees with the charges fixed by the City Council for slaughtering in the district, considering them excessive. The fees fixed were;—Each carcase of beef, or any portion, 4s; each carcase of mutton, lamb, veal, pork, or any portion, Is. In view of the wording of the act “that the Council fix such fees as are agreed upon for the meat from stock slaughtered in the meat export slaughterhouse,” it is expected a deadlock will occur.
