EMPLOYERS’ ASSOCIATION.

'ANNUAL MEETING

The annual meeting of the Wellington Employers’ Association was held last night at the association’s rooms, Empire Chambers, Mr William Cable, president, in the chair. The report and balance-sheet ’ were adopted. The report has already been published. The balance-sheet showed that the receipts amounted to £339 13s 3d, and the expenditure to £334 16s Id, the credit balance being thus £4 17s 2d. The assets amounted to £39 7s 2d, and there wore no liabilities. Mr W. G. Tustin thought the executive and the secretary (Mr H. G. Field) deserved credit for the manner in which they had worked for the association during the year. The association also was to be congratulated upon the fact that its membership had doubled.

Mr William Cable was unanimously re-elected president for the ensuing year. The other officers elected were; -Vice-presidents, Messrs Thomas Ballinger and H. Inniss; executive, Messrs I’. Wills, W. McLay, T. Munt, A. Veitch, V. Dimock, J. Hutchen, W. Jennings, W. Thompson, L. J.' Holroyd, D. W. Anderson, G. E. Godber, Thomas Bush, A. Petherick, T. J. Thompson and Thomas Warded, and (representing the builders) Messrs G. Luke and W. H. Bennett. Mr W. O. Stephens was re-elected auditor, a vote of thanks being given him for his past services. On the motion of Mr Tustin, a vote of thanks was given to the president, vice-presidents, executive and secretary for the good work - of the past twelve months. The association, he said, was alive now, thanks to the energy of the officers. It was resolved to send a letter to Mr G. T. Booth, of Christchurch (president of the Employers’ Federation), offering him condolence in the loss of his brother-in-law. Mi- N. E. Hall, who died suddenly in Blenheim. Mr Tustin "gave notice that he would move at the next general meeting that the quorum should be reduced to ten. At present it is fifteen.
