LICENSING IN BRUCE.
NEW COMMITTEE GAZETTED.
In the “Gazette” issued last night the resignation of Messrs James Adam Archibald Dunlop, Philadelphus Bain Eraser, Homy Hunter Fraser and Peter MoSkimming, members of tho Licensing Committee of the Bruco district, is accepted, and tho vacancies arc filled by the appointment of Messrs John M. Bcgg, 'William Moore, Joseph Mosley, Robert Beattie and 'William Wilson. Tho newly-elected committee is a moderate one. Mr William Moore is a successful grocer, who has been Mayor of Milton for many years. Messrs Begg and Mosley are both farmers. The former is part proprietor with two brothers of a very largo and valuable Hock of land situated on tho hanks of the Clutha river, and known as Begg’s estate. Mr Mosley owns one of the finest farms in the fertile island of Inchclutha. Mr William Wilson has been Mayor of Ivaitaogata at different times. Probably tho most widely known member of the now committee, is Mr Robert Beattie, M.A., formerly a school teacher, and at present a farmer residing at Clarkesville. near Milton. Two years ago Mr Beattie was elected to a seat on the Otago Education Board.
The, new committee is to meet next Wednesday to consider applications for renewal of licenses.
