After consulting with the chairman of tho southern branch tho following comli.kms were suggested J. The members entirely agreed with the proposals introduced by tho cnairmau, nnd a motion proposing their adoption, together with the balance-sheet, was passed. 31 r D. Bnick (Palmerston), in seconding tho motion, said ho was very pleased to too tlio council was taking some steps to iidmit the flocks of breeders who had neglected at tho proper time to register. Mr X). Xhiick (Palmerston) drew attention to a remark recently passcu by bir Goo. Clifford (chairman of tho bonth Island Branch) at ono of its meetings, which was re?id as follows;—“They even went further in the North and said that no Eheop should bo shown at shows wliich were not entered in the general Flockbook.” , ,

Tho chairman suggested tho encouragement of tho formation of “Breeding Associations/* Mr J. W. Baker (Fordell) considered it was a most important suggestion, and bound sooner or later to be adopted, Jno. however, said that the members required time to consider it, and as things were going smoothly at present he suggested that the matter might bo deferred for consideration, and in the meantime members might work towards bringing the Xuonosal to a head. Tlio chairman wag surprised at. tho itatement. Ho quoted from a letter written by the secretary of the South Island branch in 1695, in which it ‘was plated that the latter had passed a resolution that both councils should apply to agricultural and pastoral associations in the colony that all sheep exhibited should bo entered iu the flock books. lie thought this explanation should satisfy the members present. Mr W. B. Alien (NVairarapa) brought up the question of a petition having been signed by sheep exhibitors at the last Master ton show, asking agricultural and pastoral associations to only recognise Flock Book sheep. After some discussion, it was decided, on the motion of Mr H. Vile (Wairarapa) that this meeting advises the signatories to the petition only to exhibit sheep whero registration is a condition of entry, and to postpone the of tho petition until next year, as> it is now too late to approach tho agricultural and pastoral associations for next spring shows. On tlio motion of Mr W. F. Jacob (Fcllding). it was decided to apply to the . southern branch for copies of its annual Flock Book for tho members of tho northern branch. A motion of thanks to the chairman for his services in connection with the matters under discussion terminated the meeting*
