TICTON REGATTA. The annual rowing regatta was hold at Piclon yc«tcrdoy. and notwithstanding the ruffled slate of the weather, proved very successful. Results: Maiden Four*—AVolHustou Hawing Club (Chirnside Broke, Petersen 3. Klee 2, Duff how). 1; Star Boating Club. 2; Piclon Rowing Club. 3 Won by twelve lengths. The other starters represented Iho Blenheim, Nelson and Peloiie Rowing Clubs. Junior Fours.—AV-elUngton Rowing Club (Shilling stroke. McKinley 3. Gandhi 2, W. Evans bow), 1; Star Beating Club, 2. Won by twenty lengths. Maiden Pairs —Wellington Rowing Club (Chirnside stroke. W. Robertson how), 1; Star Boating Club, 2. Won by three lengths. The other starters represented the Blenheim and Piotou Rowing Clubs

LYTTELTON REGATTA.

MESS ASSOCIATION. LYTTELTON. January 1. The Lyttelton Regatta was held to-day. The weather was fine, with a fresh north-east breeze. The attendance is estimated at equal to last year. Owing to a. buoy at Camp Bay, round which the yachts had to turn, being carried away the sailing races, except tho coasters* race, wore abandoned, ami will bo sailed to-morrow. The schooner Rouga won the coasters’ race easily. Tins other competitors wore tho schooners Amelia Sima and Huia. Following aro tho results of the rowing events; Maiden Pairs—’Union, 1; Christchurch Amateurs’, 2. Junior Pairs—Kaiapoi, 1; Union, 2; Avon, 3. Senior Pairs —Union. 1; Christchurch Amateurs, 2. Youths’ - Bairs—Union. 1; Kaiapoi, 2; Canterbury, 3. Ships’ Boats Race—Dingadec, 1; Kaikoura, 2. , Senior Double Sculls—Union. 1. Akaron finished first., but wera disqualified. Youths’ Double Sculls.—Union, 1; Avon, 2. Junior Double .Scullti—Kaiapoi, 1; Union, 2j Christchurch Amateurs, 3. Mtd’cfeu Double Stulls—Akaroa, 1; Union. 2; Avon, 3. f Single Sculls—Driscoll (Xvaiapoi), 1; Si-mpfßn (Pelono), 2. Youths’ Single Sculls—Deighton (Avon), 1; Falla (Union),.2; Miller (Lyttelton), 3. A submarine explosion was very successfully managed by Captain Symons.
