NOTES FROM ROTORUA.
Spectai. to the "Turn.” ROTORUA, December 29. Sir Robert Stout, Chief Justioo, yrha is staying at “Brent’s,” Rotorua, is enjoying bis visit. Ho has the greatest faith in the future of Rotorua, and observes very much improvement since hia last visit, owing to the progressive policy of the energetic Tourist Department, which is doing so much to improve the health resorts and to bring them under the notice of tourists in all parts of the world. Sir Robert leavea Rotorua on Saturday, January 9th, for To' Arolia, and hopes to arrive in Wellington about the 18th. Mr Pringle, Government Photographer, is at present in Rotorua taking photographs on behalf of the Tourist Dkjpairtmcnti. He has obtained somo very fine negatives ,of Waimangu in action, and numbers of others, illustrative' of the thermal district. Mr Pringle goes on the Northern Steam Ship Co.’s summer trjp by the Ngaprhi, on the loth January, in order to obtain' a series of photographs, with a view to popularising the trip among tourists. He will return to Wellington in February. Sir William Russell, who has been on a visit to Rotorua, says it has been completely transformed since his last visit, and that in his opinion the Tourist Department is doing a splendid work in ; Rotorua in the .matter of further development as ‘the world’s sanatorium.” He was sorry time would not permit bint ipaking a longer stay in this wonderful health resort.
