Tho Wanganui-owned Meropc had a somewhat easy victory in the Hack Flying. The heavy going did not appear to suit some of the others. Full Cry, the favourite for the Railway Handicap, camo through at the bend, and won somewhat easily. Declination was withdrawn from the Guineas, Victoria Park and fit. Alba, tho two most-fancied candidates, were left at tho post, and look no part in tho race. The winner turned up in the, Alartiaborougli-ow tied Whakapuui. a half-sister to Ruaumlmnga. Tho success of Whakapuui, bred and owned by Air George Hume, was popular. To Kohan had the softest of things in the Hurdles, winning by several lengths from Romany Lad, who came m lame. Pure Silver anti Snnfish were the only withdrawals from the Cup. twelve starting. Platypus, Betsy and Hydrant were prominent a,t various stages of tho race. Tho Napier maro Asteroid camo through at the bend, and although challenged by Regulation, won with something to spare. W. Young, tho Wanganui lightweight. who went out to ride _Handsome in the King Edward Hack Handicap, was kicker! by one of the horses at tho post, and had a leg broken.
