A SUSPICIOUS ILLNESS.
I‘RE33 ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, July 22. Some excitement was caused at Lyttelton this moming when it became known that'’the "Onion Company's steamers Taiune and Waikare, lying at No. 2 jetty, had been ordered into isolation on account of a case of illness on board th© former. The Lyttelton passengers had landed, and the work of discharging cargo was proceeding when Dr Upham, Port Health Officer, wag called in to see Mrs Williams, forecabin stewardess on the Talnne, who was ill. Dr Upham deemed the case suspicions, and ordered work on the vessel to bo stopped, and that no one on board bo allowed to leave and no one on shore go aboard. Ho communicated with, Dr Finch, District Health Officer, who wont to Lyttelton. Shortly after two o’clock the embargo was removed, and work on the vessel resumed, Mrs Williams is to be isolated and sent to Wellington. fThe Health Department has been informed that the stewardess has been isolated and the Taluno released from quarantine. Tile Tolnne will be delayed a day in Lyttelton, and sails this evening in place of the Waikare in tho Svdney via East Coast service. She is duo at Wellington to-morrow. The Waikare returns to Port Chalmers for her overhaul .1
