MASTERTON.
Special to the " Times.” MASTERTON, July 21. Messrs Russell, McCallum and Given, members of the Acclimatisation Societies’ Council. visited tho Masterton C-h ponds to-day to acquire information as to tho working of the halcherv. The visitors expressed great pleasure' at the result of their inspection. The fish ponds will this season furnish a bout 750,020 brown trout eggs and half a million of rainbow trout. Several cases of scarlet fever have occurred ill the town recently. A requisition of seventy signatures was to-night presented (o the Borough Council for confirmation of signatures prior to being sent to (he Minister for Labour asking that it be made compulsory that all shops in the borough shall close at 9 o’clock on Saturdays. The Council (o-night decided not to form loads through Mr Bunny’s property. Mr Bunny a short time ago successfully applied in the Supreme Court to have those roads declared public roads.
