HORSES FOR THE ARMY. (Received July 4, 5.36 p.in.) LONDON. July 4. The War Office, in replying to representations from the Australasian Chamber of Commerce, in which the Home Government was invited to form remount breeding establishments in Australia, declared that the distance separating Australia and Britain precluded Australia being regarded as a source of supply of horses. SYDNEY, July 5. At a sheep dog trial in connection with the show, a dog owned by Mr H. L. Little, of New Zealand, won the second prize. BRISBANE. July 4. Mr Clement Wragge’s Weather Bureau has been closed. ■ LONDON, Jnly 4. The Lord Mayor of Sheffield (M r Wycliffe Wilson) is a passive resister of the education rate. „ w „ SYDNEY. Jnly 4. Mr H. Copeland, New South Wales ■agent-Geroral in London, has been granted six months’ leave of absence. The Earl of J ersey, formerly Governor of the colony, will act as Agent-General during hia absence.
