PRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, July 5., A somewhat remarkable tram car accident occurred oa Saturday afternoon on the College Hill line. A car went off the line at the bond at the bottom of the hill and collided with one of the tramway poles, shaking off the top portion of the pole. The top of the polo fell on to the back part of the car, striking a man named Wilson, an employee of the Tramway Company. Wilson had his head cut and bruised, and suffered a slight concussion, A lady passenger was thrown down beside the car, but was not seriously hurt. WANGANUI, July 4. A fire occurred early this morning in a shop occupied bykir T. D. Cummins, storekeeper. The Firo Brigade confined the fire to the back portion of the building, but the whole place was filled with smoke, while the lower floor and offices upstairs were deluged with water. The large stock was considerably damaged. The building was insiired for ,£BOO in the Sun Office, and the stock for .£SOO in the Liverpool and London and Globe, and .6750 divided between the New Zealand, Northern and South British. HAWERA, July 4. The Deputy Registrar of Old-age Pensions has applied for the cancellation of an old-age pension certificate in respect of a man and his wife named Hughes, on the ground that they had left the colony. On the 28th February, the pair left for Auckland, telling the Registrar that their intention was for the husband to remain in that city for four months, while the wife went, on a trip Home. On reaching Auckland, however, both took a passage for Colombo by the Westralia.
