A passenger on board the E.M.S. Orontes, which included the famous Madame Melba, writes from Naples to a friend As follows" Madame Melba had promised us a concert after we left Port Said, and said that she hoped the sum of one hundred pounds would be subscribed towards the marine charities. However, when the date for the concert arrived, as there was onlv some seventyfive pounds forthcoming, 'Madame Melba declined tp sing, and the money was re. turned to the different passengers. You can understand, no doubt, that this caused some little feeling among the People, as well as some other little things which took place.—" Punch ” "Wooing a Widow" is the title of a musical play lately copyrighted in the United States.
