WAIEAEAPA v. WELLINGTON. The first of this season's representative games ■"dll he played on the Athletic Park this afternoon, when the Wairarapr. and Wellington teams will meet in the first of the home-and-ihomo games. The men from the country are reported’ to bo even more than usually aggressive in the forward division. Tho probability is that a fast forward game, varied by a few flashes of back play, will bo witnessed —and upon the success of the latter happenings will mainly depend Wellington's chance of victory. That the public may reckon on a hard-fought game goes without saying, for . the Wairarapa teams have never yet failed to provide that in any game they have participated in. Today’s fixture will begin at 3 p.m. It will be preceded at 1.30 o’clock by a game between teams from St. Patrick’s College and from the Masterton Eiiie Cadets—a sort of appetiser for the solid fare to 'follow. WELLINGTON EUGBY UNION, The weekly meeting of the Management Committee nf the Wellington Eugb.y Union waa hold last night at the Cycling Club Eooms. There waa a full attendance. Air Galbraith occupied th.e chair. Six teams have entered for the Wednesday competition, which promises to be a most successful one this season. The drawing will take place at an early date. The Wairarapa team will arive by this morning’s train, and will be met by. the union officials After the match both teams will dine together. A visit will then be paid to the Opera House, where seats have been bocked. Junior—Swifts v. Pearls, at Aliramar, Air T. H. Wolfe; Eovers v. Diamonds, Miramar, Mr IV. White; Y.AI.C.A. - v. fit. John’s, Aliramar, Mr W. Hamilton: Third-class—Petone v. Kaiwarra’, at Potone, Eev J. D. Eur.sell; Pearls v. Ifent terrace, Aliramar, Air J. Wilson. An Association game will bo played at Aliramar tills morning between teams from Alessrs Abbott, Oram and Co., and the rest of the wholesale drapery warehouses. The combined team will comprise—Gillespie, Paul, Churchward, Eobinson, Smith, Drawbridge, Hogg (2), Wycherley, .Steadman and Evans. Abbott’s team will be—Lowe, Irons, Alpe (3), Staples, Pye-Smith (2). Churchward (2), Salmon, Hall. Air W. ATunckton will act as referee. A brake will leave the Government Buildings at 9 a.m.
