MINING NEWS.

Under date the 2nd February, the mine manager of the Jubilee Goldmining Company writes: —Low level— Resumed driving this end again to-day; reef inclined to harden; country hard. New stope —Back of end, well formed and connected with former stope; length of stope now working 80ft. Stope cast of No. 2 winze—This stope opening has very small reef; will be idle for this week. Intermediate driving east—Level and stope advanced 7ft, total 41ft; this driving stops for a time until a fresh stope is brought over. The reef in this end still looks well and of fair size. Part of last week and continuing this week we have been taking a fresh stope from old winze westerly; ore. low grade. Battery—Our clean-up as advised was eighty tons, yielding 3ooz 7dwt 18gr; 3Goz would have been an average of 9dwt, which is quite satisfactory'. I expect to deal with a much larger tonnage this month.
