CARTERTON.
(From Our Own Correspondent). Monday,
Tho Acclimatisation Society has laid informations against two local residents for trespassing upon a Government reserve set apart solely for deer and native game, situated about four miles from Alartinborough. As the reserve consists of an area of fully 20,000 acres, and as there are no notices placed upon tho land, it is difficult for the casual sportsman to know when ho is trespassing. Air George Ford, manager of tho Wairarapa Freezing and Bacon Company, is seriously ill and fears are entertained for his Ultimate recovery. Air Ford was at ono time in the employment of Alessrs Dimock mid Co. Dr Douglas Hunter, who for the past year has been assistant physician to Dr Johnston, is about to commence practice in Tenui. Harvesting operations are being retarded hero on account of rain. The yields are expected to bo fairly heavy. The English cricketers were accorded an enthusiastic reception in Greytown. A brass band headed them up the main streets.
