SUPPOSED SUICIDE.

Special to the “Times.” WANGANUI, December 26. The death by poison, self-administer-ed, of a woman named Matilda Elizabeth Dudley, residing at Okoia, was reported to the police yesterday, Mrs Dudley, who was sixty-two years of age, camo into town with her husband on Monday last on a visit to some relatives. While at her brother-in-law’s house she picked up one of a number of bottles from tho dust heap, and on smelling it remarked that it 'contained spirits of sweet nitre, which, she added, was a good thing to have in the house. She tasted tho contents of tho bottle, and apparently took it home .with her to Okoia. She then took a dose and commenced vomiting. She continued bad until Thursday, and died at three o’clock that morning. Deceased had been complaining of feeling bad for some time. An inquest will be held today.
