Do not have cloudy mirrors, when, by rubbing thorn first with a cloth wrung out of cold water, and dipped in dry whitening, and then polishing with a dry duster, they will be a credit to you instead of a disgrace. Milk Bath.—A little milk added to the water in which children are bathed helps to keep their skins free from roughness and spots, more especially if the water used is hard. If rain water cannot be obtained, tho bast plan i$ to boil before using. Hard water that has been allowed to boil ten minutes is beautifully soft if a littlo oatmeal or milk is added to it. A boot or shoe that pinches in one particular place may bo cured by laying a pad or compress dipped in hot water on the place, and removing it when cold. This will expand and soften tho leather. Violet Scented Kooms without Violets. .—One may always enjoy the perfume of violets in one's rooms by keeping in them a few little bowls of powdered orris root.
