TRADES CONGRESS.

Tho Trades (‘ougretes now sitting here has resolved that tho judgment in the Taff Vale case is an infringement cf trades union rights. It urges Labour and Liberal members of Slate Parliaments to have a law passed exempting trades unions, thoir officials and members from tho operation cf such judgment, Resolutions were adopted in favour of the nationalisation of tho liquor traffic, the purchase of tho necessaries of life by trade unionists on a purely co-operative principle, and advocating the erection of State or municipal lodging-houses for female workers. A resolution was also carried tliat State Governors were no longer necessary. Tho speakers urged that since tho federation of tho Australian colonies the State Governorships had been relegated to rolitod soldiers and decrepit sailers, and that thoir duties could bo performed by tho Chief Justices.
Tho Congress adopted its commitboo’s recommendations for tho federation of State labour organisations.
