After going over the whole of the district, from tiio Hutt to the Taita. the committee was satisfied that the Hutt School should bo erected on tlio new site with the least possible delay, and that arrangements should bo made for the erection of a new’.scliool somewhere near the Epuni Hamlet Settlement. Tlio committee believed that a suitable site could bo secured in a convenient position. Having visited Petone, it was satisfied with the improvements being made to the grounds, and with tile proposed alteration and extension of the school building. It recommended that the addition to the school budding bo now proceeded with. The report was adopted. The following recommendations of the Technical Instruction Committee wore adopted:—!. That Mr C. Williams ne appointed janitor. 2. That the recommendation of tho Conference of School Committees that throo centres for cookery be established, namely, Terraco, Ait. Cook and Newtown, bo approved, and that two additional teachers (subject to the funds for tho accommodation boprovided under tlio JVlcinual and. Technical Instruction Act) bo appointee. 3. That the plans for cookery rooms at Afastorton and Levin bo submitted to the Government and application made for grants to cover cost thereof. 4. That tho Board’s basis of contribution towards technical instruction, should the Associated Board bo established, bo based on 5 nor cent, on the value of tho land and buildings now provided, on the estimate of £7500 on land and £4500 on buildings; tho value of tho Board’s contribution on that basis being £6OO per annum.
