TRADES CONGRESS.
SYDNEY, November 26. The Trades Oougress has resolved m (favour of a trades union label througnout the Common vma-llh; also that each State should construct railway rollingstock, and wherever practicable supplies for, other public services. The Congress adopted the committee’s proposal for a Federal Navigation Bill providing protection for Australian shipping against unfair competition, tho registration of all vessels in tho coastal trade, efficient manning, proper equipment with life-saving apparatus, and proper accommodation for passengers and seamen.
The heads of the conference, the Ministry, Opposition and Labour party discussed the question of relief of sufferers hy tho drought. After a late sitting, from which the press were excluded, the Premier (Sir John See) stated that a satisfactory understanding had been arrived at as to measures for and manner of carrying out relief. After consulting their parties to-day, the conference will moot again to-night, when a final decision is expected. • (Received November 26, 10.39 p.m.) SYDNEY, November 26. The Trades Congress has passed resolutions favouring tho federation of trades unions, workmen’s compensation for injuries, a Commonwealth Industrial Arbitration Act, a minimum wage clause in contracts, and against auWetting.
