PROHIBITION t t, e OD inion of Mr. Justica Cooper, if carried in'a district, prohibit the sale of New Zealand Wines or any other description of alcoholic liquor, 1 and prevent any license being granted in that district. • PROHIBITION in the coionv would mean a direct loss in revenue of nearly three-quarters of a million pounds, or one-fourth .of the whole, thereby necessitating increased taxes on lancl and the necessaries of life, the local authorities having pywer to increase rates in case of loss of revenue through Prohibition being carried.
