(Received Novcnmer 25, 1.25 a.in.) SYDNEY. November 2d. Tho Town Hall at Maitland was densely crowded to-night when Sir_Edniund Barton, who met with a good reception, .addressed his constituents. In his speech ho traversed matters connected with Ids visit to England, the doings of tho Imperial Conieronoo and tho work of tho past session. With reference to the naval agreement, lie said it wns priTlo and vanity to imagine that Australia had a navy when that navy was no' longer fit for use. They could have one always up to date when they had no ‘-Braddon blot,” ten years hence. Tho Commonwealth would then ho able to make its own arrangements. ! Sir Edmund said ho would ho tho last to say that Australia should havo no navy, and tho first to say that the Australian navy ought to act in conceit with the navies .of the Empire. Sir Edmund was speaking when tho telegraph office closed.
