AN AMERICAN’S DISAPPEARANCE IN PARIS.
The "Matin” understands that the Prefecture of Police is at present dealing with a very singular case of disappearance. On August 15 two travellers from Havre, where they had landed from the Transatlantic liner La Bretagne, arrived at the Hotel Ritz, in the Place Vendome. They inscribed their names in the visitors’ boot of the hotel as Mr Dekay, secretary of the Chicago Beef Trust, and Mr Norman, of. Manfields. Half an hour after being assigned rooms Mr Norman went out alone. Mr Dekay also left the hotel, and returned in the evening. Two days afterwards he left for London. Mr Norman, however, has not been seen since August 15. The management of the hotel have had his two trunks taken bo the United States Consulate. Numerous conjectures are rife as- to the causa of the disappearance of Mr Norman, and by some it is supposed he may have been murdered.
