THE PREMIER.
PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, November 7.
The Premier was presented with an address of welcome from the citizens of Christchurch at the railway station this morning by the Mayor (Mr Henry F. Wigram). Mr Seddon reciprocated the kindly expressions of welcome, and referring to the presentation of the address to him here prior to his departure for England, said the confidence then expressed in him had been of groat assistance to him in the Old Country. He trusted that the good feeling existing between, the citizens of Christchurch and himself would long continue. Hearty cheers were given for Mr and Mrs Seddon. The reception took place at 9 o’clock, and there was not such a large crowd present as-would have been the case if the time had been more suitable.
Mr Seddon afterwards left for Palmerston South, to perform the ceremony of unveiling the cairn to the memory of the late Sir John McKenzie. ASHBURTON, November 7.
Djiring a short stay on the way to Palmerston South, the Premier a<U dressed a number of people on the station platform. Referring to Mr McLachlan, the sitting member, ho said the desire of the Government was to see him returned again.
