The German Emperor has sailed from Kiel for England. A Christchurch resident has won J 51125 in one of Tattersall’s sweeps. The Premier was presented yesterday with, an address from tho citizens of Christchur.'ih. The late Mrs Mackechnie. of Auckland, has made a number of handsome bequests to that city. The tablet oh the cairn erected in memory of the late Sir Johfs McKenzie was unveiled yesterday. Modifications have been made in the Education Bill in the HouSo of Commons, which have been welcomed by the Liberals.
Two persons charged with alleged illegal gaming transactions were before tho Court in Wellington yesterday, and remanded. ■
