Bir Joseph Ward left yqstcrday for Southland. Ho is to bo absent from Wellington for about ten days. Tho death is announced at Napier of Mrs C'lo«o, wife of Mr John Close, an old and woll-knowif Napier resident., liTr and Mrs Judah Myers and Miss Myers, of Wellington, arrived at Forth on Monday morning, on their return from London to New Zealand. They will reach Wellington in about a fortnight. Amongst visitors to Wellington are:— Mr and Mrs Garrick, Auckand; Mr A. ~. Wiiitaker, Auckland; Mr Geoffrey Maclean, Gisborne; Mr 11. F. Lloyd, Melbourne; Mr W. Callender, Auckland. Dr Findlay, who lias boon on a visit to tho Old Country, arrived at Auckland yesterday by tho steamer Sierra. Ho will return to Wellington to-morrow. It is understood that Dr Findlay may bo a candidate for tho representation of tho city in Parliament. Recent visitors to tlio Department of Tourist and Health Resorts wore:—Mr H. Thomson, Eltham; Mr W. Bownoss, South Africa; Mr G. A. Bownoss, South Africa; Mr Edward Lauri, England; Mrs J. A. Macdonald, Hastings; Mrs I*l. Noiwbigin, Hastings; Miss E. Nmrhigin, Hastingsj Miss V. Irving, SouTuport, England; Mrs H. Jolly, Southport, England; Mrs James Gregg, Sydney; Mr J. C. Grubb, Palmerston -North.
