At Haverford West’ Assizes an Italian organ-grinder, named Michael Valerio, was sentenced to five years’ penal servitude for shooting his paramour, Florence Buckhorns, with intent to do grievous bodily harm. On hearing the sentence prisoner clashed his head violently against the front of the dock. He succeeded in doing this several times before ho was overpowered and carried below, struggling violently with four or five officers. Prisoner failed to injure himself very much.
