To Fix Pencil Drawings.—Dissolve a little' white resin in spirits of , wine. Laying the drawing face down on a sheet ot clean paper and paint it over with the solution. This penetrates through the paper, and as the spirit evaporates-the resin is left and forms a kind of varnish. Done in this way, the paper will not cockle. Varnish Stains on the Hands.—Steins of varnish on the hands are sometimes hard to remove. Rub them with a little methylated spirits, and wipe them with a soft rag. Afterwards wash thoroughly with soap and water. To Freshen Stele Cake.—Dip it for a second in cold milk or water, and then rebake it in rather a cool oven. Cake that has been treated in this way is very similar to when newly baked, and may be eaten by anyone without fear of indigestion. Stale bread may be treated in the same way.’ Glass Globes and Chimneys.—These are not nearly so liable to crack if, before using, they are placed in a pan of cold water on a cool part of the stove, and tho water then slowly heated to boiling point. Then draw the pan back, and let the globes and chimneys stay in till the water is cold. To Stone Raisins Easily.—Pour boiling water over them, let it stand for a few minutes, drain the water off, and you will find that tho stones can b© quickly and easily sqneezed ont from the stem end.
