Tho ladder of tho Manchester, when tho buckets are empty, weighs 12!) tons. The Union Company is in receipt of advice from tho Canadian-Pacific Railway Company that it is intended between May and October to run, in addition to the ordinary service, an extra train across the continent. This special train will leave Vancouver three times a week, aud run to the Atlantic in less than four days, thus making tho fastest trip across America Tho scow Southern Isle has been chartered to load at Lyttelton for Wellington.
